Open Studios at Model House, Llantrisant, 8/9 Dec

Do come and visit Model House Craft and Design Centre on the 8/9 Dec for our Christmas Open Studios event (although you can visit any time!)  I'll be weaving away in the studio that weekend, and will have some festive nibbles for you to sample as well!  Lots of the other tenants will be there too AND its also the Llantrisant Parish Church Christmas Tree Festival that same weekend.

(Please note that unfortunately we don't have a cash machine in Old Llantrisant - the nearest is in Talbot Green. Most of the individual artists and makers resident in Model House don't have card payment facilities  so please bring cash or cheques to finish your Christmas shopping.)

Open Studio, Textile Extravaganza - this weekend!

I'll be having an open studio this coming weekend as part of the Textile Extravaganza at Model House Craft and Design Centre in Llantrisant, South Wales. You'll be able to see the loom in action, and there will be 25% off all purchases of my work for this weekend only. Very much hope to see you there :-)

Open Studio / Textile Extravaganza, Model House Craft and Design Centre, 30th June - 1st July

On Saturday 30th June and Sunday 1st July there are a host of textile related activities and events happening at Model House Craft and Design Centre in Llantrisant. My good friend and fellow Model House tenant, Michelle Griffiths is hosting a 'Textile Extravaganza', and inaugural event for her soon to be launched Resist Studio and Gallery, which will specialise in textiles.

The main focus of the gallery/studio/study centre will be exhibitions featuring shibori/tie-dye, batik, ikat, cyanotype resists and eco resist printing. A strong focus on natural dyes as well as textile artists living/working in Wales will also be made, whilst also bringing international textiles to the locality.

The suite of rooms (which are currently going through a period of renovation turning them from graphic design offices into bespoke exhibition and workshop space) will host full and varied workshop programme plus a reference library, talks, lectures, masterclasses, and sewing for pleasure classes.

I'll be having an open studio all weekend, and will be offering 25% off all purchases. Other confirmed exhibitors / demonstrators and retailers include:

This Sunday you can find me at Model House Craft and Design Centre selling some of my yarns, papers, frames and other bits and pieces that are surplus to my needs. There are lots of other interesting makers also having a clearout of their 'stuff' - do come along to pick up a bargain (and help me make some space in my studio!)

Latest work in the new studio.....

Well, I had a wonderful open studio weekend! Lots of people came to see my new studio - so many I didn't get a chance to actually demonstrate weaving on Saturday as planned! However, an early start today meant I got some cloth woven before the doors opened, so there was something for today's visitors to see on the loom!

I also include a few iphone shots of the studio for your interest. I weave by hand on a 24 shaft AVL floor loom, which I operate using the WeaveMaker software. I'm based in The Model House Craft and Design Centre is in the historic town of Llantrisant. There is a wonderful shop and florist on the ground floor, and then around 20 artists / makers / graphic designers based in the workshops on the three floors above. Its open to the public 10-5pm Tues-Sat and 11-4 on Sundays. I'm not there every day as work often takes me all over the country, so if you want to visit the studio, drop me a line before making a special visit to ensure I'll be there.

Open studio & sale, 21/22 Jan

Happy New Year!

To celebrate moving into my wonderful new studio in the Model House Craft and Design Centre in Llantrisant, I'll be throwing open the doors to welcome visitors to come see me weaving and find out more about my work. It'll also be the perfect opportunity to get yourself a rather lovely January bargain: for that weekend only, all purchases will have a 20% discount, and some archive works will be reduced by even more.  Many of the other resident makers and artists will be there that weekend too, so it'll be a wonderful opportunity to visit. Very much hope to see you there :-)

Just thought I would share a few photographs with you from the little solo show that is on at the Model House Craft and Design Centre at the moment......

Exhibition at Model House Craft and Design Centre, plus the Eisteddfod!

Tomorrow sees the opening of a solo exhibition of my work at the Model House Craft and Design Centre in Llantrisant. It's open until the 31st August, and it shows a wide variety of my differing styles of work. As always, you can see my Resonate series of works of textiles captured in acrylic. But there are also some handwoven silks; jacquard 'sketches' and 'needle woven' textiles woven straight into acrylic box panels.

There was a little article in yesterdays Metro relating to this exhibition.

I am also delighted to report that I have had two pieces of work selected for this years' Eisteddfod exhibition. The two pieces are 'Grasses' and 'Meadow Grasses' which you can see below:

The Eisteddfod is in Cardiff this year, and is open from the 2-9 August.

As well as having work in the main Eisteddfod Art and Crafts exhibition, I will also have work exhibited with ...A Crefft in the Exhibition Hall. Again, this will be more pieces from the Jacquard Sketch series.
