'Lattice' blanket joins the National Wool Museum collection
Delighted to report that one of my Lattice blankets has recently joined the permanent collection at the National Wool Museum. Its 100% lambswool and was woven at Melin Tregwynt. I have just a handful of cushions and one throw left in this design now, so you'll have to get in quick if you want one!

Melin Tregwynt blankets on Celebrity Big Brother!
Back in the second year of my BA Constructed Textiles in Birmingham Met Uni (1998), I undertook a 2 week work placement at Melin Tregwynt. I then went on to work at the mill in my subsequent academic holidays and have been designing for them in a freelance capacity ever since. Their products not only grace private homes around the world; they also supply design-led hotels and TV props departments. I often catch a glimpse of a MT blanket on adverts and TV programmes, but rarely have they had such prominence as the latest series of Celebrity Big Brother. I saw this photo on Facebook earlier on today, and needless to say, I had to tune into the show this evening:

I designed the Carew blanket a couple of years ago for Melin Tregwynt and also worked on the Ember colourways for many of the MT archive designs including the St Davids Cross and Roundcross.

Heal's Discovers
I'm VERY excited to tell you that I'm part of the 2011 Heal's Discovers Collection. I created two exclusive designs, Circle Line and Symmetree which have been made into throws and cushions. The double cloth fabrics were woven at Melin Tregwynt in 100% lambswool. I actually worked on site at Tregwynt to thread up the looms: not a quick job! It's been wonderful to take a design idea from a sketch all the way through to seeing it for sale in Heal's.

New Melin Tregwynt colourways @ 100% Design
I've been working with Melin Tregwynt for many years - all stemming from a work placement I undertook with the company when I was in the second year of my BA in Woven Textiles. Over the last year, I've been doing lots of CAD colourways of their archive and contemporary fabrics...... and the latest batch was launched at 100% Design last month. It was the first time I'd seen the selected colourways 'in the flesh' and I was delighted.... all my favourites colours!
